Overview
There are situations when you need to terminate the running rule. For example, you can run the automation rule and then realize that you need to modify the rule filter - to decrease the scope so it does not try to process too many users. The rules may be running for hours and so many other rules will be stuck in the queue.
Starting from the 10.1 version it is possible to terminate the running rules and web actions manually or by schedule, if they run more that the defined number of hours.
Configuration of process termination by schedule
- In Administrator Console navigate to Home > Configuration > Support > process Management.
- Terminate rule execution if it takes longer than (hours) setting is always applied whether manual termination is enabled or disabled. The default value is 48 hours. You can specify the required number of hours. If the rule runs more than the specified number of hours it will be terminated.
Configuration of manual process termination
- In Administrator Console navigate to Home > Configuration > Support > Advanced Process Management.
- Click Enable Manual Termination.
- Save changes.
- Navigate to the Home page.
- Click the Queue tab - in the Execution queue section Action column will have Terminate action.
- Click Terminate to terminate the running rule.
Troubleshooting of manual process termination
When the running rule is terminated manually:
- Rule execution history may have an error message with some system-level message depending on the place in the code where the process was terminated.
- In the Event Log Event 6307 will be reported: Business Rule execution was terminated by a user.
When the running rule is terminated by schedule:
In the Event Log Event 6306 will be reported: Session did not respond for the last {0} hours and would be terminated now.
