Installing components for working with SharePoint Online

Overview 

Note 1: Starting from Cayosoft Administrator version 7.3.1 SharePoint Client-Side Object Model (CSOM) instead of SharePoint Client Components SDK is required.

Both the SharePoint Client-Side Object Model and SharePoint Online Management Shell are required for Cayosoft Administrator to connect to and manage SharePoint Online service within Microsoft Office 365 extension.

Important: Both SharePoint Client-Side Object Model and SharePoint Online Management Shell must be 64 bit.

Often, when these components are installed, Cayosoft Administrator Service can't determine them at once, in this case, the system should be rebooted.

 

Installing SharePoint Client-Side Object Model (CSOM)

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Cayo Software\AdminAssistant and run Cayo.CheckPreRequisites

  2. Click the link to install SharePoint Client-Side Object Model

  3. If Cayosoft Administrator service is running you will see this information message - click

    Ok
  4. SharePoint Client-Side Object Model will be installed

  5. Run Cayosoft Administrator service if it was stopped

Note: If you have SharePoint Client Components SDK installed they will be uninstalled during  SharePoint Client-Side Object Model installation.

 

Installing SharePoint Online Management Shell

You need SharePoint Online Management Shell version 16.0.7414.1200 or later: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35588

Note 2: The module requires PowerShell 5.1 or later to be installed first. 

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Cayo Software\AdminAssistant and run Cayo.CheckPreRequisites

  2. Click the link to install SharePoint Online Management Shell

  3. If Cayosoft Administrator service is running you will see this information message - click

    Ok
  4. SharePoint Online Management Shell will be installed 

  5. Run Cayosoft Administrator service if it was stopped

 

Note 3: If you have a previous version of the SharePoint Online Management Shell module installed you need to remove it first. The version number should be 16.0.20017.12000 or higher.
