Rule description

This rule looks up the matching Office 365 user and applies Office 365 Skype settings defined by the rule.

An instance of the rule is automatically created during installation under the HOME > RULES > WebAdmin Rules (Pre-configured) folder. This instance is linked to the New User (AD), Clone User, Enable Mailbox, New Linked Mailbox, and New User with Linked Mailbox actions as a post-action rule in the Rules to run after section. The Run Skype post creation tasks setting on these Web UI actions must be set to Yes for this rule to be executed automatically.

Important: Microsoft has deprecated Skype for Business Online and Skype post creation tasks are no longer supported. Please contact your administrator to disable Skype post-provisioning tasks rule. Note 2: It might take up to 15 minutes for Microsoft Platform to complete the Skype service enablement for the user after a corresponding Office 365 license is assigned. Before applying Skype settings, the rule periodically checks whether the service was enabled. If Skype is not enabled within the period, defined by Wait for Microsoft Skype account creation (minutes) setting, a timeout occurred and is reported to the client.

Note 3: Starting from version 7.3.0, this rule also supports mapping between the Active Directory user account and Cloud user account by anchor attributes. For details, please see How to map Active Directory users to Office 365 cloud users article.

When to use this rule

You typically do not need to create an instance of this rule, as it is automatically created during installation and linked to the New User (AD) and other Web UI actions, listed above. The rule is executed when a user selects the Exchange Remote mailbox type option in the Web UI for the created user account mailbox.

Query Section

Setting name	Description
Filter	Use the filter to hide unwanted data returned by the query.

Domain controller	Select the domain controller to run the rule. Note: As this rule is run after the user creation rule, by default it uses the domain controller from the web query of the previous rule.
Credentials	Specify credentials to the selected domain controller. Note: As this rule is run after the user creation rule, by default it uses credentials from the web query of the previous rule.

Action Section

Setting name	Description*
Wait for Microsoft Skype account creation (minutes)	Within a specified timeframe, the rule would periodically check whether the Microsoft Platform completed enablement of Skype service for the user after a corresponding Office 365 license was assigned. A timeout error is reported to the client if service was not enabled within the defined period.
Audio and video	Allow to record audio meetings, audio, and video meetings, or don't allow them to schedule any meetings (none).
Record conversations and meetings	Choose what the person is allowed to record.
For compliance, turn off non-archived features	Choose this option if you're legally required to preserve electronically stored information. Selecting this option turns off features that aren't captured when you have an In-Place Hold set up in the Exchange admin center. It turns off the following features: File transfer using instant messaging Shared OneNote pages PowerPoint annotations
External Communications
External Skype for Business users	Clear this box if you don't want the user to be able to communicate with Skype for Business users in federated domains.
External Skype users	Clear this box if you don't want the user to be able to communicate with people who are using the free Skype app.
Audio Conferencing
Provider name	Select provider name from the list.
Toll number	For a third-party ACP, these phone numbers are the ones you received from the audio conferencing provider. If the user is using Microsoft as the audio conferencing provider, these will be numbers that are set on the audio conferencing bridge. The number must contain 3 to 15 digits.
Toll-free number	For a third-party ACP, these phone numbers are the ones you received from the audio conferencing provider. If the user is using Microsoft as the audio conferencing provider, these will be numbers that are set on the audio conferencing bridge. Format the numbers as you want them to appear in Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams meeting requests.
Conference ID	The participant PIN, or conference code, is used to join meetings that are scheduled by this user and are provided by a third-party audio conferencing provider. If the user is using Microsoft as the audio conferencing provider, this won't be required. The conference ID must contain 6 to 16 digits.
Allow authenticated callers to be first people in a meeting	Set Yes to allow unauthenticated callers to be the first people in a meeting. If not, then they will wait until an authenticated user joins. Note: It works only with Microsoft provider.
Reset Pin and notify by email	Set to Yes to reset pin and notify a user by email. Note: It works only with Microsoft provider.
