Overview
Use this action to force expiration and new password auto-generation for local administrator accounts on computers joined to Active Directory in the Cayosoft Administrator Web Portal.
For more information, please see How to enable LAPS password management article.
Important: Microsoft has introduced Modern LAPS (Local Administrator Password Solution), an enhanced version of the traditional LAPS. The key difference between Old LAPS and Modern LAPS is that Modern LAPS offers integration with both Active Directory and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), providing improved security and flexibility. Old LAPS primarily supports password management for local administrator accounts on machines joined to on-premises Active Directory.
Starting from Cayosoft Administrator version 11.4.0, new web actions are available for Modern LAPS. These web actions allow users to manage password expiration and auto-generation for local administrator accounts on computers that are joined to the Active Directory or Entra ID via the Cayosoft Administrator Web Portal.
- If you are using Old LAPS in your infrastructure, you can continue using the Local Account Password web action.
- If you plan to migrate or already use Modern LAPS, you can use the new web actions, labeled Windows LAPS, which support Active Directory and Entra ID environments.
These updates provide flexibility to support either version of LAPS depending on your organization's infrastructure needs.
