How to restore Guardian operation after configuration database reaches size limit
Granular recovery scenario
Cayosoft Guardian may stop operating when the configuration database (DB) reaches its maximum size. Even retention jobs may fail in such cases, preventing automatic cleanup.
Solution 1: Restore Retention Rules
- Open Cayosoft Guardian web portal.
- Navigate to Settings > Service Settings > Database Settings.
- Locate the DB size threshold to stop data collection (% of maximum DB size) setting.
- Set the threshold to 0% and save the settings.
- After setting the threshold to 0%, manually trigger the Retention Job. This will clean up old records and free up space in the database.
- Once the Retention Job is completed and the database has been cleaned up, return to Cayosoft Guardian Database Settings.
- Set the DB size threshold to stop data collection back to 59%.
- Save the settings.
Solution 2: Migrate configuration database
If the database remains full or retention jobs cannot be run successfully, consider migrating the
Configuration database to another LocalDB instance.
For more information on how to migrate/switch to another database, see Configuration: Database configurations.
Preventative Measures:
- Regularly monitor the database size
- Ensure retention rules are properly configured and functioning
- Keep the DB size threshold at an appropriate level to prevent unexpected failures
