Upgrade Cayosoft Guardian from earlier version
Prerequisite
Before upgrading, create a backup of the Cayosoft Guardian server and its databases so you have a restoration point in case the upgrade goes wrong.

How to upgrade Cayosoft Guardian
- Open the Cayosoft Guardian web portal.
- Click Update Now and confirm the update.
Or,
- Click Schedule Update and select the date and time of the update.
- Cayosoft Guardian performs database upgrades, and usually, it requires a few minutes to upgrade the database, but it might take up to a few hours in a large environment.
Upgrading from installation file
- Log in to Cayosoft.com with your account and download the latest Cayosoft Guardian version.
Close the Cayosoft Guardian console on the upgraded server.
Double-click the downloaded installer, select Install, and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Start the Cayosoft Guardian console. The initialization may take extra time after the upgrade.
How to upgrade AD connector
In case you already have the AD Connector configured, follow the steps below to upgrade the version if needed. For more information on how to set up the AD connector, see Configuration: Managing AD connectors.
- Open the Cayosoft GuardianWeb Portal.
- Navigate to Change Monitoring > AD connectors.
- Select the AD connector and click Properties.

Upgrade the AD connector in case the version does not correspond with the current version.
Or,
- Regenerate a new config file, and on the AD connector side, connect to the Guardian service using the newly generated configuration file.
NOTE: The Upgrade AD connector button is disabled in case the version is the same for Guardian and AD connector.

Q: Should I uninstall the previous version before installing the new version?
A: No, an upgrade of Cayosoft Guardian is always an in-place upgrade. The setup program performs all necessary changes needed to upgrade to the version being installed.
