Text file membership rule (Microsoft 365)

Overview

Use this membership rule to import members to a dynamic Microsoft 365 group using a text file.

Setting name	Description
Limit scope to this domain or OU	This setting defines the search query scope. To improve query performance, limit the scope to a specific Entra ID administrative unit.
Select data source	Specify the text file to be imported.The […] (three dots) button allows the user to browse for the file and the Create/Edit button allows the creation or editing of the existing file in the built-in Data Source editor.
Content type	Specify the text file content type. NOTE: If your text file contains several columns, it is recommended to use the Use column specified below content type. The attribute that is used to search objects in AD can be set manually.
Data source anchor attribute	Select a column in the data source that contains the attribute value to identify and map users.
User anchor attribute	Select an anchor attribute to identify users in Entra ID.
Microsoft 365 query criteria	Define the query criteria to reduce the number of returned objects from the target platform. The criteria may improve query performance.
Filter CSV data	You can specify a filter for CSV data.
Maximum returned results	Specify the maximum number of users to return. If not specified, the default value configured in the extension will be used. NOTE: The default value is managed by the Maximum returned results setting in the Microsoft 365 extension settings.
