Configuring Alert when Dynamic Group Threshold is Crossed

Dynamic Groups use the Add members threshold and Remove members threshold settings to help prevent unexpectedly large membership changes.

If a Dynamic Group run attempts to add or remove more members than the configured threshold allows, the membership change is not applied and the Dynamic Group run completes with an error.

You can find these settings in the Dynamic Group Advanced Settings section. For details, see the Advanced settings of Dynamic Groups article.

You can configure an email alert so that administrators are notified when a Dynamic Group run completes with an error, including when an add-members or remove-members threshold is exceeded. This helps administrators review the proposed membership change and take the necessary action.

Configuration

1. Open the Cayosoft Administrator Console and go to the Dynamic Group settings.

2. In the Output section of the Dynamic Group settings, click Change Output Type.

   

3. Select Send E-mail Alert.

   

4. In the When setting, select When completed with error.

   Specify the alert recipients in the To setting. You can also use the CC or BCC settings as needed.

   

5. Click Save Changes.

When the Dynamic Group runs and the number of members to add or remove exceeds the configured threshold, the membership change is not applied. Because the Dynamic Group run completes with an error, the configured email alert is sent to the specified recipients.
