Back up to Azure or Amazon S3 storage
Summary
Cayosoft Guardian allows the creation of backup files on a cloud file storage such as Azure or Amazon S3 storage. This article describes how to configure a backup plan with cloud storage.
Add cloud file storage before creating a backup plan (learn more in: Forest Recovery: Create and run backup plans). Learn more about adding storages in: Forest Recovery: Add backup locations. There are two scenarios for backing up to the cloud.
- If domain controllers have direct access to the Internet, backups are created on the domain controller first and later uploaded to the cloud. In this scenario, Cayosoft Guardian requires free space on a domain controller to cache files before uploading them to the cloud storage. If cloud storage is added to the backup plan, Cayosoft Guardian will automatically create local storage on domain controllers.
- If domain controllers do not have internet access or there is a proxy server, backups must be created on a staging network share. Add network storage and cloud storage. When creating a backup plan, select cloud storage as a target.
