Product Update | Check, notify and schedule updates rule

Rule description

This rule identifies the availability of a new product update and notifies and optionally schedules the update during the maintenance window. For details about updating the product via the built-in wizard, refer to the following article: Update product or extension pack from the cloud.

When to use this rule

Use this rule to check if a new version of Cayosoft Administrator has been published, change the maintenance window day and time, specify if the update alert should be displayed in the Web Portal, or define the notification events.

This is a built-in rule. The rule runs on schedule or each time you click Check for updates in the Cayosoft Administrator console.

Rule settings

Action section

Setting name Description
New product version

Specify the action to be done when a new product version is published:

  • Download and inform
  • Download and update during the next maintenance window
Other packages

Specify the action to be done when a new package version is published:

  • Download and inform
  • Download and update during the next maintenance window
Update channel

Specify the channel to download the new product version from:

  • Mainstream
  • Early adopters

NOTE: With the Early adopters channel, you can adopt new versions of Cayosoft Administrator before they become available via the Mainstream channel.

Maintenance window days Specify the days of the week to perform maintenance.
Maintenance window starts at Specify the starting time of the maintenance window.
Maintenance window ends at Specify the ending time of the maintenance window.
Show update alerts in Web Portal

Specify the update alert behavior in the Web Portal:

  • Select All update alerts to display a banner when there is an update available or when an update is scheduled.

  • Select Alert about planned update to display a banner when an update is scheduled.

  • Select None to show no banners in the Web Portal.

Message

Select events and configure email notifications to send upon these events:

  • Update available
  • Update downloaded and scheduled
  • Failed to schedule the update

NOTE: A new `$VersionType variable has been introduced to distinguish between major and patch releases available for Cayosoft Administrator. The value depends on the type of the release. Review the default Update available email for reference:

A new `$VersionType release of `$ProductName is now available.
Upgrade the `$ProductName instance running on the `$ServerName server.
Installed version: `$InstalledVersion.
Available version: `$NewVersion.
