How to decommission Cayosoft Guardian server

This article describes how to decommission a Cayosoft Guardian server.

Decommission steps

Uninstall agents

If you're using Forest Recovery features, an agent must be deleted from every domain controller. Refer to the article about agent management to learn more: Manage Agents.

Review backup locations

Backups of domain controllers are preserved in Backup locations. These backup files might contain security sensitive information. Review connected backup locations and make sure that backup files will be kept safe or deleted.

To review Backup locations:

1. Open Cayosoft GuardianWeb Portal.
2. Expand the Forest Recovery node.
3. Select the Backup Locations node.

Uninstall service

1. Click Start and find the Apps&Features application.
2. Select Cayosoft Guardian.
3. Press Uninstall.

Delete files and folders

Delete all files in %ProgramData%\Cayo Software\Guardian.

Delete database

Cayosoft Guardian database might contain security sensitive information. It is recommended to delete a database if you plan to decommission the product.
