How to migrate from Azure Files to Azure Blob storage
Updating permissions for service account and re-granting consent
In most cases, Cayosoft Guardian automatically updates permissions and grants consent required for using Azure Blob Storage. However, in some environment additional steps might be required. Complete the steps provided below if your backup or recovery plan fail with the following errors:

"Failed to automatically update an admin consent required for Forest Recovery scenarios. Press Grant to update it."
"Failed to assign a Storage Blob Data Contributor role required for Forest Recovery scenarios on a subscription level. Follow the instructions to assign it manually."- Assign a Storage Blob Data Contributor role to the service account on a subscription level using the following KB: Assign Azure roles using the Azure portal - Azure RBAC | Microsoft Learn.
- Go to Forest Recovery > Cloud Services.
- Select your Entra ID subscription and click on the value in the Credentials column.
- Press Grant access and complete the wizard.
Replacing backup locations of Azure Files type with backup locations of Azure Blob type
The backup locations of the Azure Files type must be replaced with backup locations of the Azure Blob type in all backup plans:
- Go to Forest Recovery > Backup locations.
- Select a backup location of Azure Files type and press Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- (Optionally) Repeat the previous steps for each backup location of Azure Files type.
- Go to Forest Recovery > Backup Plans.
- Double-click the plan.
- Go to the Backup Locations tab.
- Add storage of the Azure Blob type.
- Run the plan manually to check that it is not failing.
