How to set Default and Possible values for Country/Region

Summary: If you want to make some attributes to have a default value on a form or limit the number of possible values that can be selected on a form, you can do that by configuring Attribute Policies.

This article will help you set up an Attribute Policy that sets default and possible values for the Country/Region attributes in the New User/Clone User/Enable Mailbox actions.

Set default value and limit possible values for Country/Region attribute in Web Portal

The Country/Region field in the Web Portal by default has a drop-down view with a possible values list, but if you want to limit this list to only several values, you can do this by Attribute Policy.

In this example, we will set the default value to the United States country and leave only the United States and Australia in Possible values.

Follow the steps below to configure it:

1. In the Cayosoft Administrator Console, navigate to Configuration > Web Portal > Attribute Policies.

2. Click Add Attribute Policy in the upper right corner.

3. Enter a name for the new policy, for example, Default Country Policy, and then expand the Policy Details.

4. Click Add Scope at the bottom right of the Policy Scope section.

5. In the Specify Policy Scope dialog, select the Active Directory in the first column titled Admin Units.

6. Select AD Users in the second column titled Web Queries.

   NOTE: You can select additional web queries if needed like AD User Templates, AD Users (Inactive), or AD Users (Locked out).

7. Select New User, Clone User and Enable Mailbox in the third column titled Web Actions.

8. Click OK.

9. Click the newly created scope to select it.

10. In the Attribute policy settings section, select the Country/region attribute.

11. Click Edit Policy.

12. Click Default Value then enter US_840 in the field next to the checkbox.

13. Click the Possible Values checkbox then enter the following values in the field:

    • US_840~United States

    • AU_36~Australia

    NOTE: See all possible country codes at the end of the article.

14. Select checkbox Is Required if you do not want to allow the field to be cleared on the form.

    

15. Click OK.

16. Click Save Changes.

NOTE: The policy will become active in the web UI the next time the page is refreshed or when the user signs on again.
