Overview User Templates
Template user accounts are used to create new users with specific settings pre-configured like Department names, group memberships, or location in Active Directory. It is important to understand that User Templates are simply real user accounts, but they have been designed copied resulting in the creation of a new User Account with pre-defined settings.
Template user accounts are displayed in the Cayosoft Administrative Web Portal in the Active Directory Administrative Unit under AD User Templates web query (Shown at left). User Templates also appear under the AD Users web query. Having templates appear in the AD Users web query may not be desirable so they can be easily filtered by modifying the web query parameters (instructions below).

Create a Template User account
The only thing you need is to prefix the DisplayName with an underscore character. So to identify a template the DisplayName should look something like _Template Engineer.

Sign-on to the Cayosoft Administrative Web Portal

Click the Active Directory AU (Administrative Unit) on the left

Click the AD Users web query

Enter the name of the template in the search field in the web portal toolbar area

Click the Search button to search for the template you named in the previous step

Click the check-mark to the left of the user that is to be used for the new template

Click the Properties action in the action section at the right side of the screen and the Modify User dialog box will appear
If the Properties command is grey may have multiple users account selected.
If the command is missing then you do not have the necessary delegated permissions to use the command.

On the Display Name field put an _ at the beginning of the name
- Click Update to save the name change
Create a New User from a Template

Sign-on to the Cayosoft Administrative Web Portal

Click the Active Directory AU (Administrative Unit) on the left

Click the AD User Template web query

Click the Search button on the web portal toolbar area

Click the check-mark to the left of the template that is to be used for the new account

Click the Clone User action in the action section at the right side of the screen
The Clone User Wizard will appear

Complete the Clone User Wizard to create a new user account
Hide User Templates from AD Users query searches
When admins or help desk staff search for user accounts, you may not want the template user accounts to appear in the normal search. This can be done by modifying the search filter on the AD Users Web Query. To make this modification you must be a member of the Cayosoft Administrator Global Administrators role.

Open the Cayosoft Automation & Configuration Console

Navigate to AD Users Web Query

Click the selector button to the right of the Query Criteria field.

Click Add a condition at the bottom right.

Add an AND condition as follows:
DisplayName Not like -*

Click OK to save the added condition

Click Save Changes to save the modification to the Web Query
