New User | Office 365 Mailbox post creation tasks rule
Rule description
This rule identifies the corresponding Microsoft 365 user and mailbox, then applies the specified Microsoft 365 mailbox settings.
An instance of this rule is automatically created during installation under RULES > WebAdmin Rules (Pre-configured). It is linked as a post-action rule in the Rules to run after section for the following Web actions:
New User (AD)
Clone User
Enable Mailbox
New Linked Mailbox
New User with Linked Mailbox
For this rule to execute automatically, the Run mailbox post-creation tasks setting on these Web actions must be set to Yes.
IMPORTANT:
Mailbox creation delay: It may take up to 15 minutes for Microsoft to complete mailbox creation after assigning a Microsoft 365 license. The rule periodically checks whether the mailbox has been created. If it is not available within the time specified in the Wait for Microsoft mailbox creation (minutes) setting, a timeout will occur and be reported.
Active Directory to cloud user mapping: This rule supports mapping between an Active Directory user account and a cloud user account using anchor attributes. For details, refer to the How to map Active Directory users to Office 365 cloud users article.
When to use this rule
You typically do not need to manually create an instance of this rule, as it is automatically generated during installation and linked to the Web actions listed above. The rule is executed when a user selects Exchange Remote mailbox type in the Web Portal for the created user account mailbox.

Length of time to keep soft-deleted items

Specify the length of time to keep soft-deleted items for the mailbox. Soft-deleted items are items that have been deleted by using such methods as deleting items from the Deleted Items folder or using Shift + Delete. To specify a value, enter it as a time span: dd.hh:mm:ss where dd = days, hh = hours, mm = minutes, and ss = seconds. The default value is 14 days (14.00:00:00). In Microsoft 365, you can increase the value to a maximum of 30 days. |

Specify Yes to place the mailbox on litigation hold. Specify No to disable the Litigation Hold. After a mailbox is placed on litigation hold, messages can't be deleted from the mailbox. If you enable litigation hold, single-item recovery quotas aren't applied. |

Maximum age of audit log

Specify the maximum age of audit log entries for the mailbox. Log entries older than the specified value are removed. The default value is 14 days (14.00:00:00). To specify a value, enter it as a time span: dd.hh:mm:ss where dd = days, hh = hours, mm = minutes, and ss = seconds. Setting this parameter to the value 00:00:00 removes all audit log entries for the mailbox. The entries are removed the next time the Managed Folder Assistant processes the mailbox. |
