New User | Create Remote Mailbox
Rule description
This rule is used in a hybrid environment. It adds remote mailboxes to the newly created Active Directory Users.
NOTE: Don't forget to assign the users a mailbox license option.
When to use this rule
Use this rule when you need to create Exchange remote mailboxes for Active Directory users.
By default, this rule is used in a hybrid environment as a post-rule for these web actions:
New User
Clone User
New User with Linked Mailbox
New Linked Mailbox
New Equipment Mailbox
New Room Mailbox
New Shared Mailbox
Enable Mailbox
It adds remote mailboxes to Active Directory users, created by these actions if needed. It is also possible to assign a mailbox license option during new user creation.
This rule fills in the corresponding Exchange on-premises attributes on the user's Active Directory account. It allows seeing users' remote mailboxes in the on-premises Exchange Admin Center.
NOTE: Please be aware that the creation of the remote mailbox isn't immediate action and depends on the directory synchronization schedule.

| Setting name | Description |
|---|---|
Add Remote Mailboxes Users in this Domain/OU |
This setting defines the search query scope. To improve query performance, limit the scope to specific OU. NOTE: As this rule is run as post-rule, by default query scope is taken from the web query of the previous rule. |
Query Criteria |
Query criteria are sent with the query and may improve query performance. TIP: For additional information on the criteria builder, see the How to use Query Builder dialog for Query Criteria and Filter rule settings. |
| More options | |
Filter |
Set the filtering conditions to hide unwanted data based on criteria not supported in the Query criteria setting. Example: filter by the found object Distinguished Name. TIP: For optimal performance, use the Query criteria setting above to filter objects whenever possible. |

|---|---|
Remote Routing Address (targetAddress attribute in Active Directory) |
Specify a format for the remote routing address. NOTE: This attribute is populated only for users created in the forest where the Cayosoft Administrator Service is installed. It is not populated when dealing with additional forests. Also remember, that attribute is required only if you use onprem email too. |
Primary SMTP Address |
Specify a format for the primary SMTP address.
|
| Alias generation rule
|
By default, Exchange will set the mailNickname (Alias) attribute implicitly to the UPN of the user. The general recommendation is to leave this behavior with the Do not set alias explicitly setting value. |
Email Address Policy | |
Enable automatic email address updates by address policy |
Set to 'Yes' to enable automatic email address updates by Exchange Address Policy. If it is set to 'Yes', the primary email address, mail, and other proxy addresses will be generated by the Exchange server itself. The custom-generated values that are configured in the Cayosoft Administrator Service will be ignored. For more information, please see this article: Email address policies in Exchange Server | Microsoft Learn. |
Retention and Archival | |
Enable in-place archive |
It is possible to Enable an in-place archive. |
