Work with linked mailboxes
Create a new linked mailbox
Click the Active Directory administrative unit then click AD Users.
On the Actions menu, click New Linked Mailbox.
In the Create master account in dialog, select OU in trusted domain, where the user will be created.
Enter user first name and last name and verify the automatically generated values on the form.
Under Mailbox Type, select either Exchange On-premises or Exchange Remote.
NOTE: If on-premises Exchange is not configured the mailbox type will automatically to an Office 365 Mailbox. If both Exchange and Office 365 extensions are disabled linked mailboxes cannot be created.
Click Next.
Enter organization information, if needed.
Click Create.
After the confirmation is displayed, click Close.
Create new user with linked mailbox
Click the Active Directory administrative unit then click AD Users.
On the Actions menu, click New User with Linked Maillbox.
Enter user first name and last name and verify the automatically generated values on the form.
Under Mailbox Type, select either Exchange On-premises or Exchange Remote.
NOTE: If on-premises Exchange is not configured the mailbox type will automatically to an Office 365 Mailbox. If both Exchange and Office 365 extensions are disabled linked mailboxes cannot be created.
Click Next.
Enter job title, department, office, manager, description, if needed.
Click Next.
In the Create master account in dialog, select OU in trusted domain, where the user will be created.
Select Auto-generated password or type a password.
Check password and account options, if needed.
Click Create.
View linked mailbox properties
Click the Active Directory administrative unit then click AD Users.
Enter the name of the user in the search field and click Search Objects.
Click check mark to the left of the shared mailbox’s name.
On the Actions menu, click Mailbox.

Click the Active Directory administrative unit then click AD Users.
Enter the name of the user in the search field and click Search Objects.
Click the check mark to the left of the shared mailbox’s name.
On the Actions menu, click Properties.
